Strategy Fit

example score 88

“Does the strategy fit my goals?”

What we assess. Applies our proprietary framework to measure alignment with your purpose, outlook, volatility view, time horizon, and risk tolerance.

Example. This butterfly targets a modest rise above $700, with defined risk and limited movement.

Trade optimization

Find another way to trade your view.

The Optimize trade tab re-prices your idea as other strategies on the option chain from the session you entered. See how changing your priorities or assumptions affects your potential return, probability of profit and capital at risk.

Profits at expiration$704 to $736Above $708

Why consider it? Keeps the bullish outlook with a wider maximum-profit region at expiration.

  • Reaches maximum profit at or above the upper strike.
  • Costs about twice as much, with a lower maximum profit and return on risk.
  • Offers a slightly higher estimated probability of profit.
Set your priorities
  • Choose your market outlook.
  • Set a target price, budget and expiration.
  • Adjust the balance between return potential and probability of profit.
Compare viable structures
  • Uses listed strikes and bid/ask midpoint prices.
  • Surfaces the top-ranked build in each family, up to six alternatives.
  • Ranks the candidates by your chosen return and probability balance.
Understand the trade-offs
  • Compare return potential, maximum profit, probability of profit and capital required.
  • Review expected value and buying power side by side.
  • See a projected grade where a build has been priced and scored.

This example compares three selected structures at a flat 16% volatility. Compare alternatives using recorded market quotes or optimize strikes within a strategy you choose.

Scenario modeling

See what your trade could be worth before expiration.

Change the price, date and volatility to explore potential P/L throughout the trade. The full calculator pairs scenario analysis with market-implied probabilities, so you can compare your expectations with the outcomes priced into the option chain.

Modeled value on day 15 (estimate)

With 15 days left, time value keeps the butterfly below its $1,600 expiration peak. Reaching that peak requires a finish at the $720 body.

This demo uses Black-Scholes with a flat 16% volatility and a hypothetical SPY price of $700. The full calculator uses each leg’s quoted volatility from the prior session and builds a skew-aware probability distribution from the full chain.

Before you get started

How do I add a trade?

Paste the legs, upload a broker screenshot or CSV, or enter the trade manually. Confirm the details before rating. Add your outlook, goals, time horizon and risk tolerance for a more relevant Strategy Fit score; unanswered goals are left out.

Is TradeVoyance free?

Yes. Rate up to 3 trades a day and use the calculator and earnings calendar without an account. A free account adds saved trades, strategy and strike optimization, and Learn guides. There is no paid plan.

What does the trade grade measure?

The grade measures construction and fit across seven weighted categories, with Strategy Fit carrying the most weight. It helps identify strengths and weaknesses in the position. A high grade does not predict profit; a low grade alone does not determine whether to close.

How is the grade calculated?

Strategy-specific scoring rules determine the seven category scores and overall grade. An AI-assisted review then explains the result, outlines management considerations and discusses alternatives.

What does an optimized trade mean?

It is a top-ranked candidate based on your priorities and the option chain used for analysis. Compare its return potential, estimated probability of profit and risk with your original trade. Rankings are relative, prices can change, and a higher ranking does not guarantee a better result.

What do market-implied probabilities tell me?

They translate prices across the full option chain into a model of potential outcomes. The distribution accounts for differences in implied volatility across strikes, so its estimates reflect how the options market prices risk. Compare those estimates with your own expectations; they do not predict what will happen.

How current is the market data?

TradeVoyance uses recorded option quotes. The calculator uses the prior trading session’s chain; ratings use quotes for your entered trade time where available. Treat modeled values as estimates based on that data, rather than live executable prices.

Does TradeVoyance place trades or backtest strategies?

TradeVoyance provides trade analysis, scenario modeling and a record of the positions you rate. Place orders through your broker. Historical strategy backtesting, broker execution and live position alerts are not included.
